Veteran small business conference set

Army Small Business Office press release

The Veteran Small Business Federal Interagency Council hosts The 4th Annual National Veteran Small Business Conference and Expo, at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, from July 7 to 10.

The largest conference of its kind nationwide is sponsored by 11 federal agencies to provide veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses with a series of educational and networking sessions. More than 1,500 attendees will represent all levels of the federal procurement community; small businesses, large prime contractors and government agencies.

“Veteran entrepreneurs are especially valuable in the Department of Defense, as they have extensive, first-hand experience with the products and systems they support,” said Tracey L. Pinson, Director of Small Business Programs for the Army. “I strongly believe the expertise of veteran-owned businesses is an invaluable resource, not only for the modern warfighter, but for the entire federal government.”

The conference features expert speakers discussing the issues and challenges that veterans face when doing business in the public sector. Attendees will also have the opportunity to showcase their businesses and conduct face-to-face meetings with government purchasing officials and subcontracting specialists.

The conference begin with “Federal Contracting” informational sessions for businesses just breaking into the public sector. Other general sessions and breakouts will cover a variety of subjects, including: strategies for increasing business opportunities; updates on veteran small business legislation; networking; effective business development strategies; job sourcing; international business development; financial strategies; joint ventures; strategic procurement trends and industry-specific information and opportunities.
