Month of the Military Child

Month of the military child

MWR has several activities planned during April for Month of the Military Child.
Events through April 11 are:
Drama Kids Class by the Rainbow Company, for children ages 3 to 5. The six-week course costs $70. Children are supervised. Registration is available through Child and Youth Services Central Enrollment, 805-9146.
Locations and times are:
• South Post CDC: Tuesdays, 9 to 9:45 a.m.
• North Post CDC: Tuesdays, 10:15 to 11 a.m.
• School Age Services Building: Tuesdays, 1:45 to 2:30 p.m.
Saturday:
• Fun Day. This free event is open to the public and children of all ages. Children need to be supervised by their parents. No registration is necessary. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the CYS/SAS, Bldg. 950.
• EFMP Open Swim from 1 to 5 p.m. at Benyaurd Pool. This is a free event open to children of all ages enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program. Children need to be supervised by their parents or caregivers. Preregistration is available by calling 703 805-5435/2967.
• Card-making for Soldiers and Pizza-making. This is a free event open to children in sixth through 12th grade registered with CYS. Children are supervised. Located at Youth Services Bldg. from 2-6 p.m.
• Saturday is also the day the SAT Preparation Class begins. The class is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays in April. The class costs $300 for the series and is open to high school juniors and seniors. Preregistration is available by calling 805-9146. The class is in the Youth Services Building.
Monday:
April 7- Military Appreciation Night at the Bowling Center. $1.75 per game plus the cost of renting shoes. This event is every Monday night from 5:30 p.m. to close. It’s an ideal family event.
Crafts, Stories, and Snacks. These are free and is open to the public and children of all ages. Children need to be supervised by their parents. No registration necessary. The craft is apron-painting. Events are from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Lewis Village Community Center; April 10 at Vernondale Community Center; and April 11 at George Washington Community Center.
Wednesday:
• Parent and Teen Self-Defense Class is free and open to teenagers and parents. Teens need to be supervised by their parents. Preregistration is available by calling 805-2693/4590. The class is in the Youth Services Building from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
• Play Morning. This free event is open to children 5 and younger. Children need to be supervised by their parents. Preregistration is available by calling 805-2693/4590. The classes are in the Youth Services Building from 10 a.m. to noon.
April 10

April 11
• Art Exhibition. This event is for registered patrons only, at the South Post CDC from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Family Bingo Night. This event is open to the Fort Belvoir Community, children in sixth through 12th grade, and their parents. Children need to be supervised by their parents. No registration necessary. Located at Youth Services Building from 7 to 9 p.m.
