Cheap Dates



Army Band’s Twilight Tattoo
Performed by ensembles of The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” and The 3rd U.S. Infantry (The Old Guard), the U.S. Army’s most popular outdoor ceremonial pageant, Twilight Tattoo is Wednesdays this year through July 1, except June 17.
Pre-ceremony pageantry begins at 7 p.m. and the pageant starts at 7:15 p.m. at Fort Lesley J. McNair. The closest Metro stop is Waterfront-SEU Station on the Green Line.
Twilight Tattoo is an hour-long sunset military pageant of Soldiers and ceremonial units, including The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, The U.S. Army Drill Team; The U.S. Army
Blues, a soloist from The U.S. Army Chorus, and members of The U.S. Army Band, Downrange.
Performances are free and open to the public. Bleacher seating is available on a first-come, first-seated basis.

Strawberry festival, contest
The 2009 Delaplane Strawberry Festival is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Delaplane, Va.
Daily admission is $20 per car, with no limit on the number of passengers. The family-oriented day offers live music, special events and children’s games. Sports enthusiasts can run in the Anna Ringer 5K Trail Run/Walk and compete in the 4th National Strawberry Eating Championship’s amateur division.

Air Force music
The U.S. Air Force Band’s Concert Band and Singing Sergeants have a Memorial Day ceremony Monday at 11 at Memorial Amphitheater, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington.
The band’s Chamber Players Series continues with Music for Tuba, featuring Senior Master Sgt. Gil Corella, May 29 at 8 p.m. at George Washington Masonic National Memorial, 101 Callahan Drive, Alexandria. The events are free and tickets are not required.
