Haymarket holiday for troops
Businesses and residents of Haymarket, Va., gather Saturday for an open-air Holiday Party with Christmas carols, a tree-lighting, visit by Santa Claus, fire pits, and a ‘Taste of Haymarket,’ samples of local dishes provide by Haymarket eateries and restaurants. The party also serves another very important function - to collect and send Gifts To Our Troops Abroad.
Donated gifts, collected during November and early December, are packaged and wrapped for delivery by local children as a major activity of the party.
The Holiday Party is from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Town Center at Washington and Jefferson streets in Haymarket. Washington Street will be closed between Jefferson and Fayette streets beginning at 3 p.m.

Manassas parade
The City of Manassas presents its 64th Annual Greater Manassas Christmas Parade, Christmas Melodies, Saturday at 10 a.m. Information is available by calling 703-369-9030 or from gmchristmasparade.org.
Norman Rockwell, picturing health
Gari Melchers Home and Studio hosts a Norman Rockwell exhibition, ‘“Picturing Health: Norman Rockwell and the Art of Illustration,” organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum, through Jan. 31.
The exhibit features 11 original Rockwell paintings and works from an additional 14 magazine illustrators.
The home and studio is at 224 Washington St., Falmouth, Va., a quarter mile west of the intersection of U.S. Route 1 and U.S. Route 17. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Wednesdays. The museum is also the official Stafford County Visitor Center.
Admission fees of $10 for adults, $5 for students, include exhibit, studio and home entrance. Admission is free for children 5 and younger.
