Child and youth services look to the SKIES for education

Skies Unlimited, which stands for Schools of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration & Skills, offers many classes within the Child and Youth Services.

Drama lessons for children ages 3 to 5 are Thursdays at 1:45 p.m. The six-week session costs $70. Classes are at Markham School Age Service.

Beginner and Intermediate Fencing, for children ages 6 to 18, is Thursdays at 7:15 p.m. at Markham. Through June, six-week sessions are $60, with $20 in rental fee due to the instructor.

Shotokan Karate, for children ages 6 to 18, is Mondays and Thursdays. Hour-long classes start at 6:30 p.m. for beginner belts and at 7:30 p.m. for advanced belts. The monthly fee is $35.

TaeKwonDo, for ages 7 to 18, is Tuesdays and Thursdays. Hour-long classes begin at 6:30 p.m. for beginner belts and 7:30 p.m. for advanced belts.

Classes are at Youth Services Signing Smart

This class promotes early communication, reduces frustration and tantrums, and increases child’s learning abilities.

Classes are Saturdays, 10 a.m. for 1 to 2 years; 11 a.m. for children 6 months to a year. The class is $200 for a six-week session, including materials. Classes are at Markham SAS.

Signing Smart Parent Workshops will be available in May
