Aileen Cole Stewart: Black pioneer of the Army Nursing Corps

Aileen Cole, a graduate of Washington, D.C.‘s Freedman Hospital School of Nursing, always considered herself a pioneer. As one of the first black Army Nursing Corps nurses, she was always eager to serve. She received her nursing certificate in 1917 after three years’ study.

Snow scenes

The recent record snowfall brought out the child for all ages as snow enthusiasts took to the neighborhoods and hills for sledding, skiing, and snowshoeing. Others created snow forts, sculptures, snowmen, snow angels and reveled in snowball fights.
