Rowe bids farewell, gives thanks to Fort Belvoir community

To the Members of the Fort Belvoir Military Community,
It has been my distinct privilege and honor to have been associated with all of you, while I served in my role as the “Senior Commander” for Fort Belvoir as the commanding general of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington.
I wanted to share with you my sincerest thanks for the opportunity to be a part of your wonderful community during the past two years.
As a mentor for the garrison commander, sounding board for ideas and cheerleader for the hardworking garrison team, I have been extraordinarily impressed by your energy and drive.
The Belvoir team has truly made this beautiful installation a “community of excellence,“ and has been in the spotlight as the Army role model for Base Realignment and Closure. It is no small coincidence that the quality of life continues to improve exponentially.
Fort Belvoir is home to some of our key MDW capabilities and other assets that serve the entire National Capital Region. MDW assets include the Army’s one-of-a-kind 911th Technical Rescue Engineer Company, the helicopters of our 12th Aviation Battalion and their power projection platform - Davison Army Airfield. The Joint Personal Property Shipping Office, Washington D.C. Area provides services for shipment, receipt and storage of personal property for all military and civilian members of the armed services within the NCR and beyond.
We can and should all learn from the spirit of community displayed at Fort Belvoir. This spirit manifests itself in many ways; but, the best examples are your passionate care for our wounded warriors in your Warrior Transition Unit and your continued growth, while simultaneously taking care of families who stay and those who depart. Fort Belvoir serves as a beacon of excellence for our Army and our Armed Forces.
Thank you for your service to our Nation! God bless our servicemen and women, our dedicated civilian work force and our families! Army Strong!
