Thrift Shop a Belvoir treasure

I’ve worked on Fort Belvoir since July. It was around the time the Thrift Shop closed temporarily to relocate to a different building.

Since then, I have received numerous calls and quite a few e-mails asking about the shop’s reopening.

Belvoir is blessed with many unique qualities, features and amenities. Although not Belvoir-specific, the Thrift Shop is a treasure and its re-opening has been long-awaited.
It is a fantastic venue for those who shop with or without a budget. The store is ideal for enlisted Soldiers, officers, family members and retirees and their families. It’s a great place to pass things on things to others, while picking up someone else’s goods.

It’s collection of clothing, toys, and entertainment items, such as books, videos and games, let alone the furniture and knick-knacks, allows everyone to have more money to spend on other things, such as the all-too-rare, full tank of gas.

Using the Thrift Shop, as a consignor, donator and buyer, is recycling in its truest form.

Why pitch something that’s completely usable to someone else only because we’ve grown out of it or because our tastes have changed?

The Belvoir Thrift Shop is a true testament to the old adage: One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
For parents, it can be used as a learning tool for children to find value in things that don’t come from the local chain retail store and to be charitable to the point they are passing on their things to others. In a sense, children can see they themselves are growing if they see a smaller child could have use and enjoyment from an item that’s donated.

The Belvoir Thrift Shop. Many men’s treasures.
