Barden hosts information fair for American Education Week

Barden Education Center

The Army celebrates American Education Week from Sunday to Nov. 22. This year’s theme is “Army Education: Strong Soldiers, Families and Communities!”

During the week, the Army refocuses on strengthening its resolve to educate America’s Soldier-students to meet the challenges of leadership today and tomorrow.

To help Soldiers achieve their personal and professional goals, the Army Continuing Education System, ACES, at Fort Belvoir offers career counseling, Army personnel and DANTES exams, Functional Army Skills Training to help raise General Technical scores, evening and weekend college classes, and multi-use learning facility services.

In honor of American Education Week, everyone is invited to attend an Education Fair at Barden Education Center, 9625 Belvoir Road, Bldg. 1017, Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the center’s auditorium.

The event includes 25 colleges and universities to provide information on pursing undergraduate and graduate degree programs and how to enroll into college. Barden’s counselors will be available to answer questions pertaining to the GoArmyEd Active Duty Tuition Assistance program, how to apply for veterans education benefits and other financial aid programs available.

Northern Virginia Community College provides event refreshments in Room 150.

More information is available by calling 703-805-9264 or from the American Education Week Web site, http://www.nea.org/aew.
