Community members gather on Fremont Field to celebrate Freedom Fest on Fort Belvoir on July 4, 2006.

Fireworks, live music and food are all set for Fort Belvoir’s annual Freedom Fest celebration on Wednesday.

As in years past, the event will take place on Fremont Field, also known as Parade Field 2, located off U.S. Route 1 and across from Wells Field House.

The celebration begins at 5 p.m. with the band Easy Street and the show continues to 9 p.m.

Food and refreshments will be served by local vendors from 5 to 10 p.m. and various activities, like the bungee trampoline, will also be available.

An approximately 20-minute fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m., said Morale Welfare and Recreation Special Events Coordinator Gayle Rea.

“[This event] provides a place for people of the Fort Belvoir community to spend the Fourth of July and see fireworks,” said Rea, who co-coordinated the event this year. “It’s a good show.”

The event is free and open to the Fort Belvoir community and the public.
