Fort Belvoir mayoral program seeks volunteers

A Mayoral Open House was held at the Vernondale Neighborhood Center July 26.  The meeting was the first since the restructuring of the mayoral program.

Exchange prepares for growth

Wilson J. Thorhauer Jr., a traffic management specialist at the Fort Belvoir-based Operational Support Airlift Agency, retired from the Army in 1987 as a master sergeant, never imagining he would work on an Army post again.

The general manger of the Fort Belvoir Officer’s Club received the highest honor that an Army club manager can receive, at a recognition ceremony Tuesday.

Army Community Service turns 42 years old

Fort Belvoir recognized the 42 years of service that Army Community Service has provided to the Fort Belvoir community and the 13 years of service that Army Family Team Building has provided to the Fort Belvoir community at the Sosa Community Center Wednesday.

School registration fair set for Tuesday and Aug. 15

The Fort Belvoir School Liaison Office is organizing a registration fair for newcomers to the installation who need to register their children for school. upcoming events are Tuesday and Aug. 15 at the Fort Belvoir Elementary School Cafeteria from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Inattentive drivers cause problems at Fort Belvoir

Inattentive drivers cause the bulk of accidents at Fort Belvoir, according to military police officials. Since January, Fort Belvoir Military Police have recorded 81 traffic accidents, according to Staff Sgt. Jeramie Barnes, the Traffic noncommissioned officer in charge, who says this number is not unusual.
