The 85-pound Nationals battled the Chantilly Panthers Saturday in a contest that resulted in a 19-0 victory for the Bulldogs.

It was a tough day for Fort Belvoir’s Anklebiters Div. 8 league Bulldogs football team, as they were shut out by the Arlington Wolverines Saturday, 18-0, at Pullen Field.

Both teams were slow out of the gate, unable to get anything going offensively. It was the Wolverines that broke through first with a running touchdown to take a 6-0 lead.

Arlington got it done defensively as well, keeping the Bulldogs from reaching the end zone in the entire first half.

Luckily, Belvoir was also able to keep Arlington from raising the score any further in the opening period.

The relief was short-lived. The Wolverines opened the assault again in the early minutes of the second half. Arlington made 13-and 15-yard gains on their first two plays, scoring shortly after, only to have the call revoked on a penalty.

Arlington rebounded easily, using just two plays from midfield to find the end zone once again for a 12-0 lead over the Bulldogs.

Belvoir seemed to find its stride offensively, running for a quick 12 yards after regaining the ball. But a turnover on downs squashed the momentum for at least
another play.

It was all Arlington from then on as they ate up yardage en route to its third and final touchdown of the game.

With the loss, Fort Belvoir dropped its second game in a row to fall to 2-2. Arlington remained perfect at 4-0 this season.

Anklebiters Div. 9 hang on for win

The Anklebiters Div. 9 league Bulldogs squeaked out a victory against the Annandale Bulldogs by a score of 39-31.

With Belvoir up 32-34, Annandale made several steady drives toward their scoring territory. Belvoir knotted the offensive line with dominating defense until a final fourth down, in which Annandale’s quarterback kept the ball for a 20-yard run that left them a yard shy of the end zone.

Annandale scored on the next drive, and with the extra point, came within a point of Belvoir, 32-31.

On the Belvoir possession, the Dawgs easily moved up the field to the end zone, earning a 13-yard touchdown run that put the game out of Annandale’s reach at 39-31.

The victory gave the Bulldogs their first win this season, giving them a 1-3 record on the year. Annandale is still seeking its first win at 0-4 this
season.
