DCEETA-B wrapped up three victories over AMC Monday night by scores of 25-15, 25-10 and 15-8.

DCEETA-B found its stride during the first match and continued the streak into the second. Both teams fought for the first point of the match,
putting up 11 volleys across the net before AMC fell short on the return.

DCEETA-B took a 4-2 lead and never looked back.

The lead stretched as high as 12 points as AMC fell to a 17-5 deficit. AMC finally took a point after DCEETA-B was unable to return a volley, giving them momentum to score three unanswered points.

But DCEETA-B refused to give up their substantial lead, ending the match moments later.

“We started getting too rushed and they took advantage,” DCEETA-B’s Sarah Gamm said of AMC’s play in the match. “One of the guys on our team told us to slow down. That’s when we started picking it up again. We just kept having fun.”

AMC served first in the third match. Not only did they score on that serve, they followed it up with four more points. After easily leading its first two matches, DCEETA-B found itself at a 5-0 disadvantage and capitalized only when AMC faulted on a serve.

The service error gave DCEETA-B its first point of the match and newfound energy.

DCEETA-B clawed back into the match, unable to pull closer than a point as possession changed hands repeatedly. They managed to take their first lead, 8-7, when AMC was unable to return a volley.

DCEETA-B gave up only one more point to AMC in the match as the team coasted to its 15-8 victory. The match’s final point came after a perfectly executed bump-and-set sequence, which set up a forceful spike by Gamm.

The score brought wild accolades from her teammates.

Gamm was excited to score the winning point. Though she looked like a natural on the court with three aces to go along with her strong finish, she confessed she’s been out of volleyball circles for awhile.
“That was my first real spike,” she said with a grin. “I haven’t played in almost 10 years.”
Gamm felt her team came together to play its best matches that night. “Tonight I think we played our best as a team. It just goes to show we’re going to have a really fun season.”
