The NOVA Family Enrichment Program sponsors Tennis Night in America at the Coast Guard drill facility in Alexandria from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday. USTA offers a youth membership discount as part of a fun filled afternoon playing tennis. Both youth and parents can sign up for upcoming spring tennis teams and league.
USTA NOVA Military Adult Tennis league runs from March to May and consists of three doubles matches each session. Each player only needs to play two matches to be on the team. Men’s and women’s teams play from April to June and play three doubles and two singles matches per session. One team from each league advances to districts in June and July and requires a team captain.
Children ages 2 to 18 can play in the junior tennis league. Ages 9 and under play Quick Start tennis with shorter nets, low compression balls and a different scoring system. Ages 10 and up play on a larger court with regular balls and scoring.
