CFC extended for National Capital Area
The Office of Personnel Management has extended this year’s Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area until Jan. 15.
The 2007 Catalog of Caring is available to every federal employee online at http://www.cfc nca.org/files/docs/RK/2007CatalogofCaring.pdf .
Prospective donors may also wish to use the online Charity e-Search at https://give.cfcnca.org/?search, and the online e-Giving system at https://give.cfcnca.org/, which offer a variety of ways to find organizations that match your charitable interests and make a pledge.
Currently, Fort Belvoir tenants have pledged $41,670, 22 percent of the $190,000 goal; while the installation has pledged $26,630, 65 percent of the $41,000 goal.
Telecommute?
The Eagle is working on a story about telecommuting. If you are interested in telling your story, please call Melina at 805-2228 by Dec. 28.
Annual Audubon bird count
The National Audubon Society sponsors the Fort Belvoir Christmas Bird Count Dec. 30. The annual count is one of the oldest in the area and dates back to 1911. The counts help authorities better understand wintering bird populations. Start times are 5 and 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Accotink Bay Wildlife Refuge Environmental Education Center.
People interested in participating may call Greg Fleming, 703-805-3969 to register.
The cost is $5, collected the day of the count, which covers the cost for Audubon to compile the data and send out a summary of all CBCs in North and Central America).
The event is open to novice birders and experts. Novices will be teamed up with seasoned birders to augment their learning experience.
This is the last issue of the Eagle for 2007. Our first issue of 2008 hits the streets Jan. 10. Happy Winter, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa and Happy New Year from the staff — Carl, Margaret, Marny,
Melina and Paul.
