Pumpkin carving
FMWR’s Kids Pumpkin Carving party and contest is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. First, second and third prizes will be given for the most creative pumpkins. Judging is at 12:30 p.m.
A pumpkin, paint, carving kit and lunch will be provided for $6.95. The event is reservation only by calling 703-780-0930, ext. 600.
Flu vaccines
DeWitt Army Community Hospital offers flu vaccines at Specker Field House from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesdays through Thursdays and Saturdays until Oct. 29.
The hospital’s flu hotline is 703-805-0506. People can also visit dewitt.narmc.amedd.arm y.mil for dates, times, locations and vaccine availability information.
VA briefing
A VA briefing is Oct. 29 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Room 160 of Barden Education Center.
VA counselors explain the range of VA benefits and eligibility for compensation and pension, health care, vocational rehabilitation and employment, education and training, home loan guarantee, life insurance, survivor and burial and how to apply.

Business alliance honors armed forces
The Quantico/Belvoir Regional Business Alliance honors the country’s armed forces and neighbors from Fort Belvoir at a community event and Army Community Covenant re-signing Nov. 7 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Harris Pavilion in Manassas, after the Manassas Veterans Day Parade, which starts at 11 a.m.
The event will have food, entertainment, activities, local vendors, children’s activities, military vehicles, demonstrations, booths, displays and job and business opportunities.
