Country Western Dance

The Northern Virginia Country Western Dance Association hosts a smoke-free, alcohol-free, dance on Saturday at Luther Jackson Middle School, 3020 Gallows Road, Falls Church, Va. BJ Brown will be the DJ. Scotty Inman will teach the "Applejack" line dance beginning at 7:30 p.m. Gary Campbell will teach the "Teton Mountain Stomp" mixer dance beginning at 8 p.m. Open dancing is from 8:30 to 11 p.m. and includes Two Step, Waltz, line, Swing, Cha Cha, and specialty dances. Couples and singles are welcome. Admission for NVCWDA members is $10; non-members, $12; children younger than 18 accompanied by a paying adult, $5; PSDC members, $10. "Black Gold" screening

"Movies with a Mission" at the Alexandria Black History Museum are free monthly films from and about Africa and the African Diaspora that seek to inform and inspire dialogue.

Screenings will be followed by a discussion and gallery walk. The movie on April 14 at 4:30 p.m. is "Black Gold." Tracing one man’s fight for a fair price, is an exposé of the $80 billion coffee industry.

Firefighting history walking tours

This spring the Friendship Firehouse Museum is offering special tours exploring Alexandria’s firefighting history on April 14 and May 12. The walking tour, "Blazing a Trail: Alexandria’s Firefighting Past," begins at 1 p.m. at the Friendship Firehouse, 107 South Alfred St., Alexandria.

Advance reservations are required, as space is limited. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for youth ages 10 to 17. Tickets may be purchased online at www.friendshipfirehouse.net or by calling (703) 746-4994.

International Tattoo

The Virginia International Tattoo returns April 27-29 to Scope Arena, Norfolk, Va, and will feature all five branches of the military and more than 900 performers from all around the world.
