The Potomac Nationals baseball team will honor servicemembers in the Washington, D.C., metro area with free admission to the game during Military Appreciation Night, Sunday at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge, Va.
The event, sponsored by Reality Realty Professionals-Virginia Heroes, will include a special appearance by former Redskin great, Dexter Manley, nicknamed the “Secretary of Defense;” a live band; an Honor Guard to present the colors and a Wounded Warrior Benefit Regiment.
“It’s our third year partnering with the ‘P-Nats’ to honor our local military heroes. This year we are donating any funds raised, locally, to Fort Belvoir wounded warriors,” said Reality Realty Virginia Heroes owner and former Marine Samuel Cachola.
Manley is a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Redskins, and will meet servicemembers and “P-Nats” fans, take photos and sign autographs.
U.S. Army Garrison Fort Belvoir Command Sgt. Maj. Scott Guillory will represent the Fort Belvoir wounded warriors and accept a donation for the troops. In his tenure at Fort Belvoir, he has seen the construction of a world-class state-of-the-art health care facility that focuses on caring for the nation’s servicemembers and wounded warriors.
“Most of our nation’s wounded come through the Virginia and Maryland communities to receive treatment. The demand for support here is tremendous. It takes a unified front from government, business, community leadership and citizens to make the difference needed in our returning warriors’ lives,” Cachola said. “See the need, fill the need, and make a difference!”
Mammoth Global Partners, Inc, a certified service-disabled veteran owned business, will sponsor a sports memorabilia silent auction with proceeds supporting wounded warriors.
