Bacteria and their essential ecosystem inside the guts of human body functions like a jungle, where there is a strong competition among various microbes which serve the purpose to maintain the necessary stability of their ecosystem, this eventually proves beneficial for the humans as such competition keep us healthy.
The researchers at the Oxford University analysed the bacterial competition by using mathematical modelling to show the competition among hundreds of bacterial species which exist together successfully.
The researchers believe that the competitive environment maintains stability and so the great diversity inside the gut should be appreciated. The cooperation between the gut species creates a balanced eco system. The study was published in the Journal Science. Kevin Foster, Professor at Oxford University said, “We have known for some time that people carry vast communities of bacteria on and inside their bodies — particularly in the digestive tract, where these bugs are extremely important for our overall health and wellbeing”
It will be helpful to understand the huge and hefty microbe community which human carry inside them, as they provide us with numerous health benefits. Like, catabolism of food substances, protection from the pathogens and they help to maintain healthy immune system too
