In Sangrur district of Punjab, an inebriated soldier allegedly killed 4 of his neighbours and wounded four others before he was shot dead by police on Tuesday.
A resident of Hasanpur Jagdeep Singh who was home on holiday started firing indiscriminately at his neighbours after a fight, according to police. Singh killed four persons from two families before the police gunned him down.
Jaskaranjit Singh Teja, superintendent of police shot Singh dead when he refused to surrender and started firing at policemen who had cordoned off the area.
By Singh, 4 others injured in firing were taken to a hospital in Ludhiana.
Further details about the incident were not immediately available.
Similar kind of incidents have happened in the past, when a soldier has killed his own people under the influence of alcohol but in this case he was sober and the fight became so serious he got furious and started shooting on his neighbours all of a sudden but was later killed by police when he refused to surrender and stop firing.
The reasons behind the fight is still unknown but the quarrel with his neighbours has happened in the past also but this it got little serious and out of control.
