Biologics promise a new way to treat Asthma

Picture this: You are suffering from Asthma, and you are trying every possible treatment available to treat your Asthma which is becoming severe day by day. But still it seems like nothing is working for you. And then a be therapy comes out of the blue, which promises to attack the main source of Asthma.

Yes, not the symptoms but the main source. That’s a new promise by biologics. The traditional process which is being used by physicians to treat Asthma doesn’t work for all, and then it becomes uncontrolled. The new treatment process will definitely appear like a boon for all those suffering from the disease.

“Biologics is definitely something that has piqued the interest of physicians, including allergists, throughout medicine,” said Kevin Murphy, presenter at the meeting. Omalizumab is the biologic treatment which has been granted approval from the Food and Drug Administration. So it can now be used in the United States. The researchers are hoping that there will be few more drugs like Omalizumab which will help to treat Asthma. The current drug is being considered safe for both the adult and the children above the age of 12.

“It’s an exciting time to be an allergist, For many years, our primary tools for combatting severe asthma have been either bronchodilators, known as quick-relief medicines, or long-term control medicines which are taken every day to prevent symptoms and attacks” said Rohit Katial, the allergist.
