The recent study has proved the fact that if your diet contains high soluble fiber, you are most likely not to gain weight; it will eventually prevent you to add weight in your body. Earlier such diets which were rich in high soluble fiber were actually called responsible for weight gain in several people, but the recent study has proved that hypothesis completely wrong by new revelations.
Food which come under the category of soluble fiber are oat bran, nuts, seeds, lentils, few vegetables and fruit like apple, carrots, peas, beans etc. These fibers actually absorb water present in the gut and form certain gel-like substance which actually binds to the cholesterol and acids present in bile, thereby eliminating them from human body. So, soluble fiber is mainly responsible for lowering the cholesterol level in your body.
The study was done on several sets of mice where they were made to eat the food with different levels of soluble and insoluble fiber and then they were analyzed. The set of mice which was fed with soluble fiber had less fat accumulation in their body as compared to those who were fed a diet containing insoluble fiber.
The researchers believe that encouraging consumption of foods which contain high soluble fiber content will eventually be a method to combat the effects of metabolic diseases and it will actually decrease their epidemic. The study was published in the American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and liver Physiology.
