On Thursday, Chhattisgarh’s police arrested a Naxal carrying a reward of Rs 3 lakh on her head, from state insurgency-hit Dantewada district.
The cadre acting on a specific input was apprehended from Dhurli village under Bhansi police station limits.
About the arrival of a woman Maoist, Police had received a tip-off at her native village Dhurli for recruiting fresh cadres into the outlawed CPI (Maoist) and immediately a team of security forces was rushed to the spot.
She was identified as Somli Telam (27), who was the deputy commander of Mirtur LOS (local operation squad) of Maoists, according to official.
In neighbouring Bijapur district Telam was active where she had allegedly executed several naxals incidents, that includes arson, loot, attacks on police party and murder, he said.
Currently she is being interrogated.
Yesterday the official statement is that the IAF will attack only in self-defence or retaliation, this will gives enormous edge to security forces battling the Maoists.
In Chhattisgarh IAF officers confirmed the change in strategy.
“To counter this situation (Maoist attack on helicopters), senior officers of Chhattisgarh police and IAF held a joint meeting and formulated a strategy. As part of this strategy, exercises were conducted in remote areas of Bijapur,” Vij said.
In Bijapur Maoists have large bases as they dominate vast area across this district of southwest Bastar.
