PM Modi To Inaugurate Andhra Pradesh New Capital Amaravati Today

In a grand event that is expected to be attended by over four lakh people, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of Andhra Pradesh’s new capital Amaravati in Guntur district on Thursday. The list of guest includes Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, mega star Amitabh Bachchan, top industrialists and several union ministers from across India.

At Uddandarayunipalem village the function is being held on the banks of the river Krishna. PM Modi would spend about two-hours at the event during which he will perform the ‘shila nyas’ for Amaravati, which is about 40 kms from Vijayawada, currently the commercial capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The new capital city, which is situated in Guntur district, once was the seat of power of Satavahana rulers.

CM Naidu has also invited foreign dignitaries and eminent personalities for the event. Delegations and Ministers from Japan and Singapore are also expected to attend the event. Government agencies of Singapore have helped in preparing the master plan for the city.

N Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister personally invited the PM Modi, Governor ESL Narasimhan, several union ministers and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. CM reminded the PM of the Centre’s promise to grant the state special category status, that was promised for the downsized state after it was bifurcated to create new state Telangana in 2014.

Water and soil as per a call given by Mr Naidu from 16,000 villages in the prominent pilgrim centres and in the state have been brought to the capital region to be used in construction.

On Wednesday, this water and soil was sprinkled over the place where the capital city is to be built.
