“Today is Dussehra, an occasion when the good triumphs over evil and ego. If Modi-ji intends to celebrate Dussehra in true fashion, then he must eliminate ego from his cabinet. He should sack VK Singh from the union cabinet before today evening,” he added.

A parliamentary constituency in Ghaziabad that he represents, the former army chief kicked up a storm with his comments that the government cannot be blamed if somebody throws a stone at a dog to shield it from criticism for the incident in which a Dalit household was set on fire in Faridabad in Haryana.

“See, the thing is, never associate local incidents with the Central government (sarkar). There is an inquiry going on. There was a dispute between families. The dispute…how did it turn out…where did the administration fail, after these it comes to the Centre,” Singh said.

“For everything…like if somebody throws a stone at a dog, then the government is responsible…it is not like that,” he added.

The union minster comments have been widely condemned by opposition leaders who have demanded his sacking from the cabinet.
