Beef would define the new political ecosystem of India

First it was the beef ban in the state of Maharashtra, then beef protests in various parts of the country followed by controversial remarks of politicians like Lalu Prasad and BJP MLA Sangeet Som and now the latest is the Dadri lynching incident in Uttar Pradesh. Modi Government may term it as an Unfortunate incident but that is not going to help the BJP clean its image in terms of its communal politics.

No one in the political space would have thought that beef would make it to the cover pages of media. Presently, it is the hot topic for debate in the Prime time news as well as social media. Different sections of society are having varied perceptions on the beef ban based on the historical writings of Gandhi and Ambedkar also. Some historians are even pointing to mythological stories to support their stances.

What is important among these discussions is that beef ban has already become the sign of saving Hindu/Hindutva ideology at-least for the ruling BJP and its patriots. Congress is already planning to take advantage of the incident and gain minority votes. More than anyone else, it is the regional parties that are trying to make it a political issue thereby adding voter base.

All these would be keenly observed by the ordinary citizen and it might as well have an astounding impact on the coming assembly elections of Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu where BJP is trying to make its impact. Beware, beef ban may even decide the chief ministers of states!!
