According to latest news, India’s largest car manufacturing company, Maruti Sazuki is planning to hit the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) market in the country early 2016.
With the launch of LCVs in the market, company plans to give tough first to Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra, which manufacture cars and LCVs both.
India is a big market for the sale of LCVs, where small trucks are used to transport goods from one place to another in a city. However, there is fall reported in the sale of LCVs in India. A total of 382206 LCVs were sold till March 31, 2015 as compared to 432233 LCVs sold in the same period of last year.
It is said in a report that Tata Motors sold 163419 LCV and Mahindra & Mahindra has sold 149520 LCV in the given time period. With the fall in the sale of LCVs in the country, production capacity also gets affected.
In addition to Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahinrda, the other two companies, Ashok Leyland and Piaggio Vehicles, also manufacture LCVs.
It will be tough for Maruti Sazuki to compete with Tata Motors and Mahindra &Mahindra, as they had already established themselves in the Indian market.
“In terms of performance, the product is going to be different from what is available in the market”, says C V Raman, executive director (engineering), Maruti Suzuki.
