As per the latest study released by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and IMRB, almost 306 million people will access Internet from their mobile phone in the country, up from 276 million user reported in October 2015.
Further, the study of IAMAI states that the more than 402 million will start using Internet by the end of December this year, which would be a growth of 49% as compared to the same of last year.
The joint report released by IAMAI and IMRB, Internet took almost 10 years to move from 10 million to 100 million users in India and just 3years of period from 100 million to 200 million and now it takes just one year to cross 300 million internet user to 400 million Internet user in India.
And, this growth clearly shows that Internet is the mainstream in the country today.
The number of internet users in India may cross 462 million by June 2016 and large amount of people user Internet on their mobile phones only.
IAMAI said in its report that at present, India is the 3rd largest Internet consumer country in the world, and if believed, India will overtake the US, which is 2nd largest, by the end of this year.
Meanwhile, China tops the list of internet users with more than 600 million numbers.
“While Internet in India took more than a decade to move from 10 million to 100 million and 3 years from 100 to 200 million, it took only a year to move from 300 to 400 million users. Clearly, Internet is mainstream in India today,” the report said.
