7.0 magnitude earthquake hit off the southern coast of Japan also a small tsumani was reported, on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
West-southwest of Kagoshima, the quake struck 119 miles (191 km) at a depth of 6.2 miles (10 km) at 2051 GMT, 5:51 a.m. Japan time on Saturday , it said.
According to the Pacific Tsunami Center, there was no threat of tsunami from the quake, that was initially reported by USGS at 7.1.
The strong earthquake jolted about 160 km southwest of Makurazaki, Kagoshima, at 5:51 a.m. local time (20:51 GMT on Friday) at a depth of about 10 km, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
On the Nakanoshima Island, a 30-cm tsunami was observed about an hour after the quake. After the quake was lifted a tsunami warning issued.
According to the Nuclear Regulation Authority, no abnormalities were detected at the Sendai nuclear power plant in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima.
