A civilian was spotted by the Police this Friday while he flew a small drone near the Washington Monument and landed it on the Ellipse beside the White House.

U.S . Police said that the incident took place around 1:30 am this Friday. Sgt. Anna Rose said police seized the 6inch x 6inch drone and a criminal citation was given to the man named Howard Solomon III of the District.

Initially two people were cited by the authorities but later the statement issued confirmed that only one person is charged in this case. The man was supposed to appear in the Court Of Law for prosecution. Penalty upto $85 is expected to be charged.

Rose said “no indication of anything nefarious” on the part of Solomon.

This was the ninth time that an unmanned aircraft has been flown in a national park in the greater Washington area this year, and the 26th since 2013-The Park Police said.

Earlier in January, a recreational drone operator accidentally crashed a his drone onto the White House premises, which resulted in a lockdown of the White House. Later in May, Secret Service officers stopped a person who was flying a small drone over Lafayette Square in White House region.

Recently on Thursday, the Florida postal worker landed a gyro-copter on a Mall. He flew the device from Gettysburg, Pa., to the District. On investigation he said that he used the gyro-copter to deliver letters.

The Federal Aviation Administration declared that all airspace within a 15-mile radius of Reagan National Airport is considered a “no-drone zone.”
