A Russian carrier with 224 passengers on board and crew slammed in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula on Saturday, the Egyptian government has affirmed. The rescue and search team has discovered more than 100 bodies, including those of five youngsters, in the wreckage of the Russian air ship, an officer at the site told Reuters.
“The plane split into two, a small part on the tail end that burned and a larger part that crashed into a rock. We have extracted at least 100 bodies and the rest are still inside,” the officer said.
In a section of a Russian plane, Egyptian rescue and search team members have also heard voices, an officer, who requested anonymity.
“There is another section of the plane with passengers inside that the rescue team is still trying to enter and we hope to find survivors especially after hearing pained voices of people inside.” he said.
Mohamed Hossam Kemal, Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister said it was “too soon to determine the cause” of a Russian passenger plane crash in the country’s Sinai peninsula.
The Egyptian PM went to the scene of the accident close by the health ministries and tourism and offered his sympathies to the Russian represetative, the announcement said.
The Metrojet (in the past Kolavia Airlines) flight had 217 travelers and seven team individuals on load up. A senior aeronautics authority said it was a sanction flight worked by a Russian organization.
As indicated by reports, Flight 7K9268 traveling to Russia from Sharm al-Sheik in Egypt went off radar 23 minutes subsequent to taking off.
Sergei Lzvolsky, an authority with the Russian avionics organization Rosaviatsia told Interfax news office that the plane had withdrawn Egypt’s Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheik at 5:51 am neighborhood time (03:51 GMT).
He said the flying machine did not reach obviously with air activity controllers in Cyprus.
