After the charges of signing a contract not favourable to the football body and making illegal payments to Uefa president Michel Platini, the president of Fifa, Sepp Blatter has been provisionally suspended for 90 days.

Blatter has been running the football body since 1998, and the news of suspension did not affect him much, according to his adviser, Klauss Stohlker.

Blatter was found mentioning to a German newspaper that he was being wrongly condemned. Both Blatter and Platini reject any wrongdoing.

The head of Fifa’s ethics adjudicatory, Hans Joachim Eckhart, has yet to take any decision regarding this. The matter came into light, after the Swiss attorney general opened a criminal proceeding against the long-time president of Fifa. The news came as a shock to the football world.

After handling the body for so long, Blatter was chosen for the fifth consecutive time as the Fifa president. He stepped down from the post after being accused of corruption. His term ends on 26th February next year.

The vice president of Fifa, who is also under investigation by the ethics department, said that his reputation was being smeared so that he cannot become the next president of Fifa.

Clive Efford MP, Labour’s shadow sports minister conveyed the message that after the end of his term, Blatter should not return unless and until all the investigations have been completed and he is found innocent. Hopefully, the ongoing investigations will throw some light on the matter.
