In a television meeting held, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu has said that four Russian ships have launched 26 missiles on the ISIS targets on Wednesday as a part of its air target against the Islamic State.

The strikes were launched using precise long-range missiles that flew 1,500 kilometers to their targets, said Sergei Shoigu. There were numerous other attacks on other towns in western Syria, Hama and Idlib provinces as a part of coordinated attacks on Islamic state by Russia and Syria.

Russia although launching fresh strikes, said it was willing to cooperate to the United States in carrying out attacks in Syria. U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter, while speaking to reporters in Rome called the air-strike campaign of Russia in Syria a “fundamental mistake” and the US was not willing to cooperate with them in these attacks.

Syria’s neighbour in the north, Turkey said that Russia’s intentions are questionable in the issue. The Prime Minister of Turkey, Ahmet Davutoglu said, “These air raids are not against ISIS. There were 57 air raids by Russian air forces. Fifty-five of them were against moderate opposition and only two were against Daesh, according to military information we received,” according to Anadolu News Agency

According to the UK-based anti-Assad Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Wednesday’s attacks are the fiercest of the assaults this month. The observatory added that the clashes were taking place on the ground between regime forces and their allies and armed Islamist rebel factions, including the Ahrar al-Sham and the al Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front.
